Fiordland Families Newsletter Issue 4 - 18 April-1 May 2019

Autumn has arrived along with the end of Term One. Easter celebrations are just around the corner and it is with excitement that we present to you this the fourth issue of the Fiordland Families Network (FFN) newsletter. It has been a busy few weeks for our organising committee as we welcomed new faces, shared ideas and work towards ensuring our future sustainability. Exciting times ahead for us all!

In this issue we focus on maternity services - the vital healthcare mother and baby receive upon welcoming a new life into this world. It is with sadness and frustration that we report on the recent closure of Lumsden Maternity Centre, the lack of progress to provide suitable alternatives to ensure the safety of our mothers, babies and local midwives, and the impact this situation has on our whole Fiordland community.

Here at FFN we are committed to advocating for the best health outcomes for our Fiordland families. We hope you will take the time to understand the importance of these issues and support the retention of a safe maternity service in whatever capacity you can.

Many thanks,

Jo Marsh and the Fiordland Families Network team
